Game rules and changes as part of GW story
GW oftentimes lacks a sense of one being immersed in a game world that is isolated from the "real" world. One way to increase this would be to make the game rules and changes a part of the lore or GW story. This seems to be more relevant now due to the frequent weekend events or boosts that seem to have no rhyme or reason.
So here's the idea in a nutshell:
Why can we only equip 8 skills outside of towns?
It would be nice to have a storyline that explained how the gods devised this as a way of keeping the mortals or lessers in check.
Why are we getting balthazar or alliance boosts or double whatever this weekend?
Some god is happy with us and has decided to reward us. Currently it just feels like experimentation on Anet's part (which is what it is, I know) rather than a part of the game. It would sound much better if Archemorus or Dwayna or Balthazar is pleased and has decided to bless us with double whatever for the weekend.
This could also be used to explain sealed deck play, in that some god has selected their favorite skills for us to choose from or has disabled the other skills.
This can't be used to explain skill nerfs or buffs, but it can be used to explain game rules and weekend events, creating for a greater sense of being in a game world.
I think players would appreciate it more if weekend events, etc. are explained as a blessing from the gods, rather than another of Anet's limited time bonuses to get players online.
This concept is easy to do and should add a little something to the game. Interestingly enough, they did this when they added the PvE Tombs area and it seemed to generate a decent amount of interest among players.
